Sports Spread Bet
Good or bad bet (NBA Playoffs)??
I bet on this website on two games , the Spurs-Suns game, and the Jazz-Rockets Game.
Suns-Spurs: I bet on the Spurs who have -5 spread
Jazz-Rockets: I bet on Jazz who have +2 spread
I am new to Sports Betting so tell me what you think..and just to make sure, please clarify that this means Spurs need to win by at least 6, and Jazz can either win or lose by 1..and don’t worry, these bets were palced @ centsports.com..so I’m not up to lose my house/first-born with these bets..only about a dime..
Welcome to the fun world of sports betting. A friend got me started about a year ago and although I don’t make big bets, it still makes some games all the more enjoyable.
To answer your question, you are right, the Jazz can lose by 1 (if the jazz lose by 2, you push, no money gained or lost, a push is a win you will soon learn) and yes the Spurs must win by 6 or more in order to collect money (win by 5 and you push again)
I like your Jazz-Rockets bet, although I’m not a big fan of your Spurs-Suns bet. Not that I think it’s a bad bet, I could just see it going either way. If I were you I’d put money on the Jazz to win on the moneyline (meaning that they will win straight up, and since they are the underdog you will win a little more money, somewhere between +115 or +120 rather than the normal -110) and hold off and make a halftime bet on the spurs-suns game. Halftime spreads are often made with a little more haste and sometimes you can take advantage of that.
Remember that spreads are not based on who they think is going to win, but rather who people are Betting On. Don’t bet on every game. If the spread looks close, make a halftime bet or pass it all together. Instead look for good bets. Often times rapid fans in big market areas will often times dump tons of money on their teams pushing the spread. Take advantage of this and make some underdog “cover the spread” bets. Great example of this is the Patriots late into last year.
Hope this helps, have fun and good luck tonight
